Wild Seeds:  Mud, Lies and Shame

(Passport, 1988)

The band's major-indie debut was produced by LA veteran Howard Benson (TSOL) and sported a regional hit, "I'm Sorry, I Can't Rock You All Night Long." The label went bankrupt three months later and the band soon followed. Features the soulful voice of Kris McKay on "All This Time."

Hall takes the rock 'n roll ethic of good times, lonesome trains and love gone wrong and spins it into lusciously twisted personal narratives inscribed with poetic literacy. He has cultivated the persona of an Everyman befuddled by an America gone sour; he's constantly searching for truth, justice, and a wife and two kids, yet he's repeatedly thwarted by forces bigger than himself.
